How to measure a child’s foot
The feet develop the most in the first years of life, which means that the right footwear has a huge impact on the motor development of our youngest children.
In the warmer months, we can certainly try to stick to the rule of going barefoot as much as possible, but we certainly can’t avoid wearing some kind of footwear all year round. We therefore need to encourage the good and natural development of children’s feet by wearing footwear that mimics bare feet as much as possible – meaning that it is soft, flexible and adapted to the arch of the foot. All this applies not only to children’s shoes, but also to children’s slippers, in which the child spends more than a third of the day. Our footwear is there to support them in their first steps and in all further activities.
The correct size is crucial for proper foot development.
When choosing, it is also important to choose the right size of slipper or shoe for your child. Otherwise, the shoes will either be too small for the child, causing discomfort and improper development, or too big, making the child’s walking unstable. With children constantly on the go, getting the right size can be a real challenge.
But don’t worry, we’ve got a little trick that will help you easily identify your child’s shoe size. Follow our simple guide to measuring your child’s foot, saving you energy, time and money.
How do I choose the correct size?
Every child’s development is unique. To determine the correct size, it is therefore necessary to measure the foot, but make sure that the child’s toes are not curled when the measurement is taken.
Step 1
Take paper, a pen and a tape measure. Place the paper on the floor against a door or a wall.
Step 2
The child should step barefoot on the paper, with the heel touching the wall.
Step 3
With the pen, mark the tip of the longest toe and the widest points of the foot.
Step 4
Measure the distance between the marked points on the paper.
Find the measurement in column 3 of our size chart. Our slippers are suitable for normal and wider feet. If your child has narrow feet, we can make the adjustments.
