How it all began
Finding comfortable, breathable and washable footwear for her son Žan became a challenge with no real solution. When no footwear that supported healthy foot development and came close to barefoot walking was available on the market, the idea was born.

First pair of slippers
By enrolling in a sewing course, Maja took the first step towards a solution. With the help of her mentor, she created the first pair of children’s slippers, designed with comfort, breathability and natural movement in mind.
03 — Home workshop
Refining at night
Alongside her regular job and in the evenings after her son had fallen asleep, Maja researched materials and refined the designs. Each new pair of slippers was better, more thoughtfully designed, and closer to perfection.

Even others notice Snugi
The enthusiasm of children and parents did not go unnoticed. The Snugi slippers were also spotted by a retail chain, marking the beginning of the journey from a home workshop to the first family business.

Growth with a clear mission
Today, Snugi is one of Slovenia’s leading children’s slipper brands. Through our expertise, collaboration with specialists, and continuous improvement, we create footwear that supports healthy foot development and children’s natural movement.
Snugi was created from a genuine need among parents and a desire for footwear that allows children to move naturally and supports healthy foot development.
Discovery
We are constantly trying to understand what we can do better so that children have suitable footwear to guide and protect them on their journey.
Research
Once we understand their needs, we explore materials that are breathable, flexible, durable, and washable. We also collaborate with experts throughout the research process.
Prototyping
Based on our research, we develop several prototypes in different shapes, widths, and materials, and test them until we determine which are most suitable for the majority of children and adults.
Testing
During the final testing phase, we offer the prototypes to a selected group of children and parents. Once we see how they respond to the new product, we know whether we’re heading in the right direction. They then test the footwear for a while longer and give us feedback on which fit and materials work best for them.
Design
We design footwear that both children and adults love to wear because it is comfortable, supports healthy foot development, and stands out from the crowd.

Durable, breathable, and washable
Part of making the best footwear is sourcing the best materials. Snugi footwear strives to meet exceptionally high quality standards. The materials we use must be durable, flexible enough to accommodate the movement of the feet, breathable, and washable. We carefully select materials from the European Union that carry the highest-quality certifications.
