Foot and Child Development

Razvoj stopala in otroka

At birth, a baby's feet are soft and so adorable that you would want to hold them in your palm forever. But parents know well that in the following months and years, they will grow and go through incredible changes. During this period, babies need footwear that protects them from the cold or possible injuries, but since the bones in their feet are still soft cartilage and their feet are developing, the footwear must be soft and wide enough not to squeeze their tiny toes and feet.

Uninterrupted development can only happen if the feet are as free as possible. Children's footwear should therefore mimic barefoot walking as much as possible.

Over the years, children will go through five stages of development as they learn to crawl, walk, run, dance, and play. Most changes happen in the first six years. When fully developed, children's feet will have 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Every child is individual and develops at a different pace.

How long they need to start walking or how early their feet begin to form can vary greatly from child to child. It is important not to worry about this, as your child will soon be walking, running, and jumping.
